A Certified Labor Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous, non-medical support through pregnancy, labor, and birth. She offers comfort and reassurance from early labor at home through delivery—whether at a hospital or birth center—and stays until the mother is settled and supported after birth.
Doulas use calming techniques like touch, massage, breathing, and position changes, while also encouraging the partner’s involvement. They advocate for the mother’s birth preferences—whether unmedicated, medicated, or planned cesarean—helping create a safe, empowered, and positive experience.
Unlike hospital staff, a doula is hired by the family and serves only the mother’s best interest, offering truly personal and unbiased support.
What Is a Certified Labor Doula?
A Certified Postpartum Doula offers gentle, in-home support for families during the early weeks after birth. She’s there to care for the mother as she recovers, assist with newborn care, and bring calm, confidence, and comfort into the home—whether you’ve welcomed one baby, multiples, a preemie, or a baby with special needs.
Postpartum Doulas help with feeding (breast or bottle), soothing techniques, emotional support, sibling care, light household tasks, and even overnight care so parents can rest and recharge.
Unlike “baby nurses” or “newborn nannies, they’re here to support your entire family with knowledge, warmth, and without judgment—helping you ease into parenthood with reassurance and care.

I know this season of life is big, emotional, and maybe a little overwhelming. Whether you're here out of curiosity, planning ahead, or getting closer to meeting your baby—welcome. You’re in the right place.
I’m a mom of four, and each of my birth experiences was different—beautiful, challenging, and deeply personal. They helped shape the way I support other mothers today. Every birth tells a new story, and I believe yours deserves to be heard, honored, and respected.
Outside of birth work, I homeschool two of my kiddos, which keeps me grounded, patient, and very adaptable—skills that come in handy when supporting families through the unpredictable nature of labor and delivery.
I’m also an animal lover through and through—birds, cats, dogs—my home is always full of love and a little joyful chaos. That deep care I have for nurturing others extends to how I walk beside women through pregnancy and birth.
I created Once Upon A Birth Maternity because I’m passionate about helping you have the kind of birth that aligns with your hopes and values. As your doula, I’ll help you envision the birth you want, create a plan, make sure your team is in sync, and support you emotionally and physically every step of the way.
